| The Polytechnic Institute of New York University (NYU-Poly) is the second oldest engineering school in the United States. Among NYU-Poly graduates and faculty are Nobel laureates, notable inventors, world class scientists and successful entrepreneurs. Recently merged with New York University, NYU-Poly is embarking on a campus-wide transformation plan for the first time since its creation in 1854.
Jonathan Rose Companies has been selected to lead the school’s transformation process and support NYU-Poly in achieving its goals which include the creation of a 10-year Capital Plan and development and implementation of campus-wide greening standards. Our team has recently coordinated a consultant selection process for the Assessment phase of the project. The assessment team, led by Beyer Blinder Belle, is currently evaluating the conditions of all buildings on the campus. This survey of 660,000sf of existing space will serve as a basis for the campus 10-year Capital Plan. Concurrent with the assessment work, our team is working with the University constituencies on creating a concept for a state-of-the-art laboratory. Jonathan Rose Companies has selected Payette to lead the lab design effort whose goal is to allow NYU-Poly to promote its i2e values of invention, innovation and entrepreneurship.
In its 150-year history, NYU-Poly has sent tens of thousands of alumni on the path to their dreams. In doing so, the school has helped change the world through their accomplishments that include miracle drugs, the fax machine, laser and bar code technology and the lunar module, to cite but a few. The creative force that pervades Polytechnic and has attracted and nurtured generations of young men and women is what helped mold these leaders. The University is a gathering place for passionate thinkers imbued with curiosity, energy and creativity that converge to produce a unique power that has changed the world.
