| VOOM (Venue of Original Music) is a state-of-the-art, “arts house” music hall operated by OMW (Original Music Workshop), a Brooklyn-based nonprofit. The purpose of this multi-faceted music center is to serve the artistic and art-going communities as a site for the rehearsal, recording, and live performance of both eclectic new music and more traditional genres from diverse perspectives. Built from the ground up, VOOM will provide unparalleled resources for musical experimentation and exploration in rehearsal, production and recording, and live performance. The center will cultivate public interest in classical, jazz, and contemporary music through its programming and educational initiatives.
The flexibility of the space and its dynamic acoustic environment will serve the diversity of musical expression in the New York area and help maintain New York as the center of new music creation and production. As such, VOOM will serve as an acoustically viable performance venue with built-in first rate recording capabilities.
Jonathan Rose Companies was engaged by OMW to provide full real estate advisory services on the construction of a 15,000 sq. ft. building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Services provided by our Civic Development team include funding and financing advice, budget and cash flow development, assistance with bidding and value engineering processes.
Currently in Bid Phase, the project features 30 ft. x 50 ft. performance hall with surrounding balcony; variable audience arrangements including row seating, cabaret tables, standing room, allowing for audience capacity ranging from 120-350 patrons; windows to exterior for natural daylight during daytime use; double-height lobby space with full bar; and full-size restaurant and kitchen.
