Assistant Project Manager

New York City Office


We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager in our Construction Management Practice. The position will be responsible for portions of on-site construction activities such as planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the work of staff assigned to construction project sites. Works closely with the Director of Construction Management to ensure that all work remains on schedule, achieves cost targets and is performed safely at the highest quality level and maintains excellent working relationships with clients.

Responsibilities 

  • Attend a wide range of meetings and events with Director of Construction Management and interacts with architects, engineers, contractors, municipal officials, and financial institutions as needed for the implementation of the design and construction. Acts as a representative of the Director and ensures accurate minutes are kept and issued in a timely manner 
  • Oversee action items from meetings and events which may include following up directly, or insuring the follow up of others, compiling or exchanging information and contacts, tracking issues, and providing other assistance. 
  • Conduct research, and aid in pushing internal initiatives such as: National sales contracts, Documentation of Lessons Learned, Standard specs/Healthy materials, Standardized agreements, Required Design meetings, Honest Buildings, Implementation of Lunch and Learns, Cataloguing costs on past projects, Metrics for Construction, Organizing Construction Group Contacts, Standardizing filing
  • Perform project management duties as needed. Prepares status reports and modifies schedules or plans as required. Provides input in the selection of design consultants and other professionals. Manages relationships with various prospects, clients, and partners in the construction environment.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate (Bachelor) Degree in Engineering or Architecture preferred 

  • 3-4 years experience in the construction industry 

  • 1-2 years of residential/affordable housing experience 

  • 1-2 preconstruction and construction project phase experience

  • Advanced written and communications skills

  • Must be organized, be able to prioritize tasks and work with multiple demands for time

  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office is required 

  • Familiarity with different contract types is preferred
