We are seeking a systems thinker, a talented individual with a passion for ideas, positively shaping communities, preserving and protecting our natural environment, and advancing social justice to serve as Jonathan Rose's Chief of Staff. The position will support his work with the company and it’s public policy and not-for-profit work, focusing on creating more environmentally, socially and economically resilient cities. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong initiative and maturity, and must be congenial, cooperative, creative, a good listener, polished, self-confident and diplomatic. He/she should be able to anticipate and handle a wide range of situations, and to be able to evaluate and summarize a wide range of information from a myriad of fields and sources.  She/he must be an excellent writer, well organized, and excellent at following up on the wide range of opportunities Mr. Rose encounters. Experience in environmental and urban policy, communications, and familiarity with real estate development or urban planning are essential.




  • Act as a point of contact for Jonathan Rose in the integration of his business public policy for­profit and not-for-profit work.

  • Attend a wide range of meetings and events with, or represent Mr. Rose when he cannot be present, and record minutes of same.

  • Serve as a substitute representative at conferences or other events when necessary.

  • Oversee action items from meetings and events which may include following up directly, or insuring the follow up of others, compiling or exchanging information and contacts, tracking issues, and providing other assistance.

  • Conduct research, and provide input to policy analysis and strategic consultation.

  • Draft, edit and proofread written materials including papers, speeches, emails, and briefing memos.

  • Compile background information on other meeting attendees and speakers.

  • Interact with heads of industry, government officials, community leaders, board members, non-profit staff members and other stakeholders in the representation and development of strategic program initiatives.

  • Maintain a broad, high-level view of JRCo's strategy, lines of business and projects in order to effectively act as a liaison between Mr. Rose's outside interests and the company for business development and marketing purposes.

  • Follow up on marketing and investor leads, as appropriate.

  • Work closely with Jonathan Rose's Executive Assistant to coordinate scheduling, event planning, correspondence and to provide other logistical support.



  • Graduate degree in urban planning, real estate, or government strongly preferred

  • Ability to handle a wide variety of situations and environments,

  • Superb oral and written communication skills, including comfort with public speaking

  • Critical systems thinker with proven analytical and integrative capabilities

  • Proven ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines, and to work in a fast paced environment

  • both independently and as part of a team

  • Experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and MS Project

  • Familiarity with government and the not-for-profit sector a plus

  • Experience dealing with high-profile individuals a plus

  • Must be willing to travel extensively and to work some weekends as required
