Development—New Canaan, Connecticut

Millport Redevelopment

Built in the 1980s, the existing public housing units are obsolete and inefficient. The NCHA purchased an adjacent parcel of land in order to undertake a phased redevelopment to modernize the public housing units and add new affordable housing. The site is well situated within walking distance of downtown New Canaan and the Metro-North Railroad Station.

The new units will be financed with a mix of Town of New Canaan funds, 4% Low- Income Housing Tax Credits, tax-exempt bonds issued by the NCHA, and state funds. All 73 units will be restricted to families earning at or below 80% of the State Median Income, as required by the state 8-30g program. The addition of these units will enable the Town of New Canaan to earn a 4-year moratorium against zoning applications submitted under state statute 8-30g.

Jonathan Rose Companies has also assumed a role in organizing the NCHA's monthly meeting packets, issuing meeting notices, managing the meeting agendas, and overseeing the project accounting. During construction, Jonathan Rose Companies will serve as owner's representative for the NCHA.
