New York Public Library, Bronx Borough Center

The Bronx Borough Center serves as a premier educational, technological and cultural center to more than one million visitors each year. The new facility provides a full range of information services to Bronx residents including: broad access to information technology, state-of-the-art technology training, a full range of educational resources and workshops for children, job counseling and other adult learning programs, extensive reference collections, and popular reading materials.

A core component of the new Borough Center is a Latino and Puerto Rican Cultural Center, the nation’s preeminent library-based facility of its kind. The Cultural Center houses extensive collections reflecting individual, cultural experiences and the broader Hispanic experience – both in the United States and elsewhere in the Western Hemisphere.

Jonathan Rose Companies was chosen to serve as the green building consultant, advising the New York Public Library and their design team.

Jonathan Rose Companies worked with the New York Public Library’s design team on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, architectural, and landscaping design to maximize the project’s overall environmental responsibility. The project has been awarded a Silver rating under the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED program.
