Owner's Representative—New York, New York

The Childrens Storefront

Founded in 1966, The Children’s Storefront is an independent, tuition-free school in Harlem committed to providing a comprehensive education to children with varied academic strengths from preschool through 8th grade. The school’s mission is grounded in the conviction that every child deserves the opportunity for an excellent education.

The Children’s Storefront works in partnership with families and community members to prepare children academically, socially and emotionally for further education, empowering each child to reach his or her potential. The school’s goal is to inspire the imagination, creativity and love of learning inherent in all children, as well as to promote values of hard work, mutual respect and service to our society in a structured, joyful environment.

Jonathan Rose Companies’ Owner's Representative practice was retained by The Children’s Storefront to prepare a feasibility report needed to assess the school’s expansion opportunities. The Children’s Storefront School’s campus is housed in several buildings located on East 129th Street in Manhattan. The feasibility report, prepared in collaboration with Dattner Architects, summarized the due diligence findings and listed conclusions regarding the viability of the potential purchase of a building between two of the Storefront’s existing buildings. The project team assessed the proposed site, created proposed development scenarios to modify the space, including connection with adjacent School buildings, and developed conceptual budget and schedules for the work needed to accommodate the school’s growing program.
