New York City Office


We are currently offering paid internships in our Investments & Acquisitions Group, which administers our institutional equity funds focused on mixed-income and affordable housing acquisitions. The group has a significant national pipeline, and interns will gain exposure to a wide variety of transactions. This position is located in our New York City Office.

Responsibilities

  • Interns will be expected to commit to work on a full-time (40 hours/week) basis. The internship is anticipated to being in May/June 2017 and last through August/September 2017. 
  • Interns will assist with a range of team activities, including:
    • Analyzing potential acquisitions
    • Contacting brokers to obtain market information
    • Developing financial models and pro formas
    • Preparing applications for low income housing tax credits and other public subsidies
    • Preparing acquisition memos and presentation materials
    • Attending investment meetings and preparing meeting minutes
    • Reviewing and negotiating legal documents
    • Coordinating & evaluating third-party due diligence reports

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate should currently be enrolled in a master’s program, demonstrate strong leadership and entrepreneurial skills, and be able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Candidates should have strong organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Education or experience in the disciplines of investments and/or real estate development is required, and may include one or more of the following: real estate investing, private equity, investment banking, economic development and public finance, real estate development, real estate portfolio management, real estate economics, design and construction management, or sustainable community development. Experience from top-tier consulting or investment firms will also be considered. 
  • All candidates should demonstrate excellent ability in quantitative analysis, with a premium placed on real estate financial modeling. Candidates are expected to have advanced skills in standard computer software programs, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project. Knowledge and exposure to Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) and/or HUD programs is a plus.
